News: Alex Brosque home at Last

Alex Brosque is very happy to be back at the club as our Australian Marquee for the next 2 A-league seasons after a stint overseas in Japan with Shimizu S-Pulse and the Middle East with Al Ain while also playing 21 games for the Socceroos.

“It’s been a couple of years but it still feels like home.”

“Ever since I left it was a matter of timing of when exactly it was the right time to come back and there was never a doubt in my mind that if there was the option to come back to Sydney then I’d do exactly that.”

Brosque has made 104 appearances for Sydney FC and scoring 28 goals which makes him our all time highest goal scorer. Teaming up alongside Shane Smeltz and Bernie Ibini this season will also be very interesting to watch with an all new look team and management headed by Graham Arnold.

It’s only fitting for Brosque one of the most respected players among fans at Sydney FC and The Cove will be representing us for the clubs 10th Year.

Brosque also fills a special place in The Cove as he was a very close and longtime friend of William “Doggadog” Duran who was a Cove Founder and Legend. Doggadog watched and supported Brosque throughout his career and it was a special moment in the club when Brosque came back and stood Dogga’s seat in Bay 23 amongst The Cove to pay tribute to a Cove Immortal.

Welcome Home Brosque and we all are looking forward to the new season which starts on Saturday 11th October 7.45PM, against Melbourne City FC at Home.
