This is it: the crunch game. The whole qualification comes down to this. Sydney need to beat Shanghai in this game, and Kashima need to beat Suwon in the other game. That would be enough to put Sydney into second to see us qualify for the knock-out phase. Sydney drew 2-2 in the away game against Shanghai, but were arguably the better team for much of the contest, which should give us some hope. The game against Suwon was also comfortably Sydney’s best performance in this campaign and hopefully the players can use that to spur them on to the performance we need here. We have a full squad available for this game and Warland showed in the Suwon game that he is capable of filling in at centre back, removing one of the great problem areas of this team in the competition. Shanghai have been looking good in their domestic league, however, sitting 4th after 6 games. They also managed a draw with group leaders Kashima in the first game, setting this up to be a cracking spectacle from both sides. Here’s hoping we have yet another memorable night on Tuesday.

Make sure you get down to the ground and support the team. If ever there was a time that the squad really needed out support, it is now.
