Sydney officially become the world’s fifth-best football team, with a 2-1 win over African Club of the 20th Century, Al-Ahly. Sydney certainly didn’t play as well as they did in their previous match, but a quality header from Dwight Yorke and a nicely timed run from David Carney sealed the victory, and a prize of $800,000 which is distributed amongst the A-League clubs.[SFC][FIFA][SFC]

Sydney perhaps weren’t the better team on the day, but a single goal was enough, with Dwight Yorke mesmerising two Mariners defenders before laying the ball off to Steve Corica on the edge of the box to blast home.
