ACL Group Stage: Game 6

Sydney FC vs Shanghai Shenhua

Allianz Stadium

Kick off: 8:00pm

Preview

This is it: the crunch game. The whole qualification comes down to this. Sydney need to beat Shanghai in this game, and Kashima need to beat Suwon in the other game. That would be enough to put Sydney into second to see us qualify for the knock-out phase. Sydney drew 2-2 in the away game against Shanghai, but were arguably the better team for much of the contest, which should give us some hope. The game against Suwon was also comfortably Sydney's best performance in this campaign and hopefully the players can use that to spur them on to the performance we need here. We have a full squad available for this game and Warland showed in the Suwon game that he is capable of filling in at centre back, filling in one of the great problem areas of this team in the competition. Shanghai have been looking good in their domestic league, however, sitting 4th after 6 games. They also managed a draw with group leaders Kashima in the first game, setting this up to be a cracking spectacle from both sides. Here's hoping we have yet another memorable night on Tuesday.

We need to win, yes, but a draw in the other game will suffice. We have Suwon covered on head to head (4-3 on aggregate) should we both finish on 8 points.

Posted by: BlueRanger One thing thats easy to forget about Bobo's season is that he scored 15 goals.... while having to press for 70-80 minutes

Cool, I wasn't 100% sure on the head to head vs goal difference thing but good to know.

My old man works at the airport for the quarantine department and met the Shanghai team this morning.  He found someone who spoke English and they said they’d left 9 of their first team at home. Potentially they’ve given up for the last game

In some ways, the biggest game of the season.

Bronze children's tickets are $5 for the game tomorrow. Hopefully with school holidays that might bump attendance slightly.

I've seen other people saying the same. Someone on Facebook said that they have left 6 of their first teamers back in China, and have only brought Moreno of their big names (a photo on an unofficial fan account seems to confirm that too). Lots of youth team players here as well. We really, really have to take that opportunity.

I must admit that after the first few match days, I honestly didn't think we'd be sitting here contemplating the slightest chance of progressing to the knock-out stage.

I also find it amazing that after five match day, there has yet to be a home win in our group.

Well that's hardly encouraging news given our current predicament.

I know it's a bit of a worry

3-0 or 3-1 Sydney Fc

If we can't beat this lot with half there team out then we shouldn't be there.

Only thing that worries me are these Refs. They are pretty pathetic.

We need to keep our heads and we will win and win well.

Obviously we're also relying on Kashima getting something out of Suwon, and luckily for us this is in their interest, as a loss would see Suwon win the group.

Where’s this at? Couldn’t see that option on Ticketek site.

The bookmakers agree with you. Sportsbet has us at $1.17 to win, and $2.88 with a 2 goal handicap. Those are the kind of odds we usually get against lowly a-league teams.

It might be that you already have an adult ticket separately?

Not sure what the go is here then? Clicked through from that link on the tweet but no $5 option. Doesnt say there’s a certain password either. Tried a few standard variations on the password from my member card but nothing. Typical Ticketek screw up I guess? Shame.

Is there any price difference between buying a GA ticket via Ticketek vs buying at the gate?

They can’t show the other game on the screens, where else are the AFC going to play their Allianz ads after costing us $50K to cover the Allianz sign on the stadium?
