I like that we get a home game exactly every fortnight; football is never too far away. For those who haven't ever gone out to any of our NPL games, I assure you it is well worth the time. Usually it's a pretty solid game and it's good to break up the pre-season.

I can't find much on what our squad looks like for this season, though I assume it will be quite similar to our NYL squad. I did find this nice little read on a player who may be breaking into our first team this season - Niko Udjur:

Udjur looked really good last year (and the collar bone explains why he disappeared).

Echo the thoughts above about it being a good time, usually a group of us down the far end at lambert so come say hello.

According to LiveScore the boys got a 3-1 win over Hakoah in the Illuminati Derby after being 1-1 at half time.

They don't list the goalscorers so one of the regulars will have to provide that info.

Edit: Found a site that does. Jeremy Cox got 3.

I didn't see the game, but the Twitter account says that Cox scored a hat-trick. He scored a few in the NYL, so this is a good sign.

Here's the video from our first game of the season:

Cox is quite well built but isn't as quick as some of the other forwards we have, so it was good to see him using his body well on the second goal.

1st grade lost 2-1 to Wollongong. This could be a rough season.

Looks like it has been a boring game out at Edensor Park. We're on the wrong end of a 5-3 scoreline.

Continuing the tradition of dull games, the U20s just played out a 5-5 draw against Bonnyrigg. The Bonnyrigg keeper made about the worst howler you can imagine to tie it up for Sydney with a few minutes left.

And then first grade finished 3-3. Weirdly I still thought that Flottman had a good game, but there are still clearly some defensive weaknesses.

I see Hassan Jalloh got another goal. Anyone know what his performances have been like?

The boys went down 3-0 to APIA. They're second bottom on 4pts having conceded 16 goals in 6 games.
Our Serbian bretheren are last on 2pts.

Not looking very good at the moment. Bottom of the table on 4 points, 4 adrift of 2nd bottom Bonnyrigg (Hakoah & Rockdale also on 8 points). We haven't won since the first day of the season. Hopefully the boys can turn it around.

If anyone is interested, I've posted a wrap-up of our academy covering March and April. I'm planning to do one every month from here on out.

on the 16th of June, Sydney FC vs Sydney United with a 7.45pm kick off. On the same night Australia play France in the world cup at 8pm.

Is there a high chance that the game will be moved to a early time or later date?

The boys got their second win of the season today, 2 - 0 over Rockdale. Sam McIlhatton & Jeremy Cox with the goals. Takes us off the bottom on goal difference.

The second goal was really well worked as well. Skotadis made a good run from deep, played a 1-2 with McIllhatton and then played it wide to Cox, who was unmarked. Cox slotted it home and it was all the sweeter because it was Covic in goals for Rockdale.

McIllhatton had probably the best game I can remember from him. If Zuvela weren't already ahead of him I'd be tempted to see how he goes in the first team.

I've posted up the May academy wrap-up here:

https://www.sfcu.com.au/academy-wrap-up-may-2018/

It’s been a much better month for our academy, with first grade picking up 4 points from 4 games as we pass the half way mark. The U20s, however, have fallen off the pace somewhat. The U18s continue to fight for the title.
